Botox® neurotoxin treatment helps control the symptoms of severe underarm and hand sweating when topical medicines do not work well enough by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands don't receive chemical signals, the severe sweating stops. Botox® injections are expected to temporarily stop the production of excessive sweat in the treated areas only. Sweat continues to be produced elsewhere in your body.

Three days after the treatment, the patient realizes a decreased sweating at the Botox® performed area. Five to seven days after treatment, most of the sweating is stopped. Effectiveness period is different according to patient but approximate lasting time is six to eight months reported. Botox® injection needs to be repeated again after its effects disappeared.
